Kate Howey tips Nekoda Davis to impress at next Olympic Games

GB Elite Performance coach Kate Howey tips Nekoda Davis to impress at next year's Olympic Games after reaching the last eight in the -57kg at the World Judo Championships.

Great Britain's Nekoda Davis has bowed out of the -57kg category at the quarter-final stage at the World Judo Championships.

Davis lost out to eventual bronze medallist Automne Pavia, but GB Elite Performance coach Kate Howey has backed the 22-year-old to make an impression at next year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Howey told the official British Judo website: "Nekoda fought really well today and showed some lovely judo throwing twice for Ippon.

"She is fighting without fear and is getting better and better. She gained valuable Rio points today and looking at her rate of improvement, Rio is looking bright and she will mix in with and beat the best players in the world."

Davis has won both the Zagreb Grand Prix and British Open this year, but she did bow out in the opening round at the European Games in June.
