Leicester Tigers 24-13 Newcastle Falcons

Leicester Tigers beat Newcastle Falcons at Welford Road in the LV Cup.

Leicester Tigers secured a comfortable 24-13 win over Newcastle Falcons at Welford Road in the LV Cup this afternoon.

Thomas Waldrom broke the deadlock after six minutes, crossing over the line and setting up teammate Staunton to convert.

The Tigers fly-half added two penalties to his tally before opposite number Jimmy Gopperth responded by kicking one of his own. The duo traded another pair of penalties apiece prior to the half as Leicester held on to their 13-point lead.

George Skivington scored the first points of the second half, extending Leicester's lead even further with less than ten minutes gone.

Substitute Jamie Helleur then grabbed Newcastle's first five points of the afternoon with 15 minutes left, before Gopperth reduced the deficit to 11 points.
