Jennifer McIntosh reveals 50m rifle disappointment after missing out on a medal

Great Britain shooter Jennifer McIntosh tells of her disappointment after being unable to claim a medal in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions final at the European Games.

Great Britain shooter Jennifer McIntosh has told of her disappointment having been unable to claim a medal in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions final at the European Games.

McIntosh looked to have put herself in a good position after qualifying for the eight-person final in fifth place, but a weakened display in the standing discipline saw the GB athlete suffer elimination despite a strong showing in the kneeling phase.

"That's just the nature of the three positions event really. It doesn't really matter if you're good at one, if you're not that good at all three, you end up at the bottom of the pile," McIntosh told reporters after the contest.

"I'm disappointed because I know that my standing is better than that. The heat from the spotlights and the pressure of the final just got to me a bit.

"Standing saved me in qualification. My kneeling and prone were really poor in qualification but that's just one of the beauties and pains of this events. To get it all right on the day is pretty tricky."

Great Britain currently hold eighth place in the medals table.
