Rachel Klamer: 'I was seeing stars after swim'

Rachel Klamer says that she "started to see stars" after a difficult swim at the European Games triathlon in Baku.

Dutch silver medallist Rachel Klamer has admitted that she "started to see stars" after a rough swim during the European Games triathlon.

Klamer was able to hold on to the back wheel of eventual champion Nicola Spirig and Lisa Norden during the bike phase of the race, the first triathlon to take place in Azerbaijan, before taking second.

However, the Netherlands triathlete has revealed that she was "on the edge" during the event.

She told reporters: "It was really choppy in the water and I started to feel a little seasick and started to see stars.

"For me with those two animals on the bike it was really hard. I told them I was struggling, but Spirig was trying to help me as it helped her too.

"So I decided to just give everything. I hope they don't mind too much. I told them: 'Girls, please don't try to drop me I'm just giving everything here.'"

Irish competitor Aileen Reid finished in sixth place.
