Silver medallist Natalie Blake dreamt of powerlifting bronze

England's powerlifting silver medallist Natalie Blake reveals that she was keen on winning bronze in this summer's Commonwealth Games.

England powerlifter Natalie Blake has revealed that she had dreamt of crowning her first Commonwealth Games with a bronze medal before winning silver this morning.

The four-time Paralympian, who was born with spina bifida, looked visibly emotional on the podium after finishing second in the lightweight event.

Blake sealed the silver after lifting 95kg in her final attempt to take her points total to 100.2, and the 31-year-old admits that she wildly exceeded her own expectations in Glasgow this summer.

"This is my first Commonwealth Games, so I was just wanting to make some good lifts and see what happens at the end," she told BBC Sport.

"I wasn't expecting the silver - it's a tough competition out there so I was hoping to get three good lifts and maybe a bronze medal."

Nigeria's Esther Oyema won gold, retaining her title after also winning the event in Delhi four years ago.
