Filming of the sixth Final Destination film gets underway in Vancouver.

Filming on a sixth movie in the Final Destination franchise has begun in Vancouver, 24 years after the release of the original.

The cult supernatural horror series typically follows a group of young survivors of a major disaster who then start dying one by one in extreme circumstances.

The fifth film came out in 2011 and a sequel has been in development for more than five years, but now producer Craig Perry has revealed that filming has officially commenced on what will be known as Final Destination: Bloodlines.

"After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can," he wrote on social media.

"2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. To honor the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing. See you next year!

"PS: I know, I know - Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. But this is the title we've had for three years, and we're keeping it... for now."

The franchise has grossed a worldwide estimate of around $670m (£522m) at the box office to date.
