Carpi, Hellas Verona ends goalless

Serie A's bottom two clubs Carpi and Hellas Verona play out a goalless draw in their meeting at the Stadio Alberto Braglia.

Carpi and Hellas Verona have done little to improve their chances of avoiding a relegation battle this season following a goalless draw in their Serie A clash.

Leandro Greco tried his luck for the hosts in the early stages with a powerful strike from outside the box that failed to cause any problems for Francesco Benussi.

Verona soon began to dominate possession and Juanito was denied at the near post with their first real opening of the match.

The Gialloblu then almost snatched the lead before the break, but Giampaolo Pazzini could only head Emil Hallfredsson's cross wide of the post.

Having gone into the break level, Carpi made a strong start to the season half and Ryder Matos forced Rafael into a vital save after he met a corner with a thumping header.

However, that was as close as either side would come to making the breakthrough, as the match finished in a stalemate, leaving them both cut adrift at the bottom of the table.
