Michael McGlinchey steals Perth Glory victory for Central Coast Mariners

Michael McGlinchey scores a dramatic winner to give Central Coast Mariners a 2-1 win over Perth Glory in the A-League.

Michael McGlinchey scored the winning goal in the dying seconds of the match to earn Central Coast Mariners a 2-1 win over Perth Glory in the A-League.

Steven McGarry's late penalty looked to have snatched Perth Glory a point after Trent Sainsbury had given the hosts an early lead at Central Coast Stadium, before Jacob Burns was sent off. However, McGlinchey found a dramatic winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time to settle the match,

Central Coast got off to a great start when Sainsbury slid them in front just 11 minutes into the match.

Glory had a great chance to draw the away side level just before the break, but Chris Harold's shot from the edge of the box soared over the bar.

Burns then had an opportunity six minutes into the second half for an equaliser, but he failed to hit the target from range.

Harold again went close with 12 minutes of the match remaining when he headed over from a Isaka Cernak cross.

However, Glory finally got their best chance for a leveller when Marcel Seip upended Harold from behind, resulting in a spot kick to the travelling team.

McGarry stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way as he looked to have earned a point with just five minutes remaining.

There was still time for Glory to be reduced to 10 men after Burns was handed a second yellow card in the space of five minutes.

However, the game was decided in the dying second when McGlinchey found the back of the net to break the hearts of Glory.
