The Chelsea hierarchy will reportedly make a final decision on Mauricio Pochettino's future at an end-of-season review.

Chelsea will reportedly make a final decision on Mauricio Pochettino's future at an end-of-season review.

Following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain in July 2022, Pochettino returned to management last summer, taking over the reins at Chelsea on a two-year deal with an option to extend by a further year.

Pochettino has experienced a turbulent first season despite leading the Blues to the EFL Cup final, where they were ultimately beaten by Liverpool.

The Argentine also guided Chelsea to the FA Cup semi-finals, before they fell just short against current holders Manchester City.

Rather than the cup competitions, it has been Chelsea's league form which has seen Pochettino's position come under scrutiny.

Chelsea have struggled to find consistency in the top flight this season, with their 35 matches producing 15 wins, nine draws and 11 defeats.

Chelsea to decide Pochettino's future in end-of-season review

During the campaign, Pochettino has seen his side suffer heavy defeats to Newcastle United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

However, he has also witnessed moments of promise, including in Chelsea's last two matches against Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

The Blues dispatched Spurs via a 2-0 scoreline, before they produced a free-scoring display to thump the Hammers 5-0 in their most recent outing.

Despite those positive results, there is still some uncertainty about whether Pochettino will in charge when the 2024-25 season gets underway.

According to The Telegraph, the Chelsea hierarchy will make a final decision on Pochettino's future when they meet for an end-of-season review.

The report claims that Pochettino has never been in immediate danger of being sacked because the plan has always been to review the campaign and his position at the end of the season.

Chelsea looking to make quick decision on manager's position

Chelsea are expected to hold the review in the days after the club faces Bournemouth in the final round of Premier League fixtures on May 19.

The Blues are keen to meet in the immediate aftermath of the season, so they can come to a quick resolution and focus on plans for the 2024-25 campaign.

Pochettino is set to attend the review with sporting director Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart as well as Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali and Jose E Feliciano of the co-ownership team.

While a final decision is yet to be made, Boehly recently praised Chelsea's performances in the last two and a half games, suggesting the team were beginning to make progress on the pitch.

Chelsea, who sit in seventh spot, will attempt to claim a third consecutive victory when they travel to the City Ground for Saturday's meeting with relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.
