Preview: Dover Athletic vs. Weymouth - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's National League clash between Dover Athletic and Weymouth, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

A clash between the National League's two worst teams, Dover Athletic will welcome Weymouth to the Crabble Stadium in the knowledge they will not finish the season on minus points.

Sitting on the singular point in the National League table, Dover will be keen to snatch just their third victory of the campaign on the final day.

Match preview

OPED Generic Football A

Starting the campaign with a tally of minus 12 points, Dover's abject season is finally due to come to an end with Sunday's home clash against Weymouth.

Even without the deduction, Dover's tally of 13 points this season would have still seen them comfortably finish bottom of the table.

Just two wins to date has represented a miserable season for Dover, who hold the record for the most defeats and the least wins in the league so far.

Aiming to end the campaign with three wins to their name, Dover will welcome a Weymouth side who have also been relegated to the sixth tier.

While somewhat better than Dover's offering this season, Weymouth's tally of 25 points for the season is only higher than their bottom-placed weekend opponents.

Last victorious in mid-February, a run of 15 matches without a win has led to Weymouth's inevitable relegation, as they eye up a final-day victory to lessen the blow of demotion to the National League South.

However, if history is anything to go by, a Weymouth win looks unlikely, as Dover have tasted victory in three of the previous four head-to-head meetings between the two.

Team News

One of the standout performers in the Weymouth ranks this season has been Josh McQuoid, who has netted eight times for the Terras this season.

McQuoid was not involved last weekend, but could feature for the visitors, with dynamic midfielder Omar Mussa hoping to provide creativity just behind.

Positives for Dover have been few and far between this season and goalkeeper Alexis Andre Jr will be hoping to end the campaign on a high with a clean sheet against relegated opposition in Weymouth.

Michael Gyasi has top-scored for Dover with five goals so far this season, and the German-born forward should feature for the hosts this weekend.

Dover Athletic possible starting lineup:
Andre; Goodman, Collinge, Wilkinson, Woods; Judd, Hanson, Baptiste, Krasniqi; Gyasi, Ransom

Weymouth possible starting lineup:
Fitzsimons; Cordner, Harfield, Robinson, McBurnie; Carlyle, Mussa, Blair, Bearwish; Rose, Shields

We say: Dover Athletic 1-1 Weymouth

A torrid season is finally coming to and end for both clubs, whose attention will no doubt have already switched to finding a way to challenge in the National League South next time around.

These two sides will meet each other next season, but do not expect a classic in the final game of this campaign, with a score draw likely at the Crabble.
