Marie-Laure Delie brace guides France to last eight of Women's World Cup

France secure their place in the quarter-finals of the Women's World Cup with a 3-0 victory over South Korea thanks to goals from Marie-Laure Delie and Elodie Thomis.

A brace from Marie-Laure Delie has helped guide France into the quarter-finals of the Women's World Cup courtesy of their 3-0 victory over South Korea.

Philippe Bergeroo's team took the lead in the fourth minute when Delie collected a pass from Laure Boulleau and drilled a low effort past Jung-mi Kim.

France doubled their advantage as Eugenie Le Sommer picked out the run of Elodie Thomis down the right and she maintained her composure to slot the ball into the net.

Park Eunsun tried to hit back for South Korea as she fired at goal from distance, but her effort was well saved by Sarah Bouhaddi.

In the second half, France put the game beyond doubt as Delie netted her second goal of the game when she finished off a flowing team move with a tap in from close range.

Bergeroo's team took the pace out of the match with their possession game to ensure that South Korea could not find a way back into the contest.

Louisa Necib almost added a fourth goal in the dying minutes when she attempted to guide the ball into the corner with a shot from the edge of the box, but Kim made the stop to keep the scoreline down, but France eased into the last eight of the competition.
