Gary Neville's Valencia cruise into Copa del Rey quarter-finals

Gary Neville's Valencia side cruise into the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey with a 7-0 aggregate victory over Granada.

Valencia have safely booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Granada in the second leg of their last-16 clash this evening.

Gary Neville's side had a commanding 4-0 advantage from the first leg and completed the job at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes by eventually running out 7-0 winners on aggregate.

It was the home side who applied the early pressure as they looked to spark an unlikely comeback, with Diego Mainz sending an effort narrowly past the post before Matthew Ryan was called upon to make a fine save to deny Youssef El-Arabi.

Ryan came to his side's rescue again moments later as this time Isaac Success tested the Australian goalkeeper, who was once more equal to it.

Having withstood the early onslaught, though, the visitors well and truly put the tie to bed with the opening goal on the night when Wilfried Zahibo nodded Pablo Piatti's corner past Ivan Kelava with only three minutes remaining in the first half.

Piatti came close himself with a free kick 10 minutes into the second half, but Valencia would not have to wait much longer to double their tally as Paco Alcacer latched on to Danilo's pass before finding the bottom corner shortly past the hour mark.

The third arrived with just six minutes remaining when Neuton brought down Zakaria Bakkali in the penalty area, allowing Piatti to step up and fire his spot kick into the bottom corner.

Valencia have now made it through to the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time in three years.
