Preview: Wrexham vs. Aldershot Town - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's National League clash between Wrexham and Aldershot Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Wrexham will be hoping to get back to the top of the National League table on Saturday as their quest for promotion to the football league continues.

Aldershot Town will make the journey to the Racecourse Ground to try and provide an upset as they continue to focus on pushing away from the relegation zone.

Wrexham are once again flying in the National League, and they head into Saturday's game on the back of 10 games in a row without a loss in all competitions.

However, Phil Parkinson's men were held to a goalless draw last weekend by Wealdstone, which provided a rare game for the Welsh club without scoring a goal.

That is something that Wrexham fans are not used to, with their games often being as entertaining as the blockbuster movies that the club owners star in.

No team in the National League has scored more than their 50 goals so far this season, and the likes of Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer will be hoping to get straight back to on Saturday.

Wrexham have won all nine of their home matches this season in the league, and that is the type of confidence that should help them get straight back to winning ways.

Of course, the visitors will be wanting to provide an upset at the weekend, and Aldershot are in a position where they need to start picking up some points.

While it is impossible for them to fall into the relegation zone this weekend, only four points separate them and the bottom four places.

That brings plenty of pressure to the team for their upcoming matches, especially since they have lost their previous two matches.

There have been defensive concerns for Aldershot Town as of late as they have let in eight goals during those recent losses, which is not ideal preparation for facing Wrexham's attacking quality.

Inih Effiong did get on the scoresheet last weekend for his team, but it was not enough to get them a result as they were beaten 2-1 by Maidenhead United.

Team News

Parkinson will likely be putting out a full-strength starting XI on Saturday considering the fact his team is currently second in the league, and the attacking qualities of Palmer and Mullin will certainly be called upon.

However, with a second-round game in the FA Cup on the horizon the following weekend, the experienced manager may look to rotate the team earlier than normal with his substitutions.

Ryan Hall put in a strong performance last weekend in goal for the visitors, and he could be busy once again this Saturday against a strong attacking team.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the field, Effiong will retain his place in the team as the lone striker for Aldershot Town as he looks to get on the scoresheet in consecutive games.

Wrexham possible starting lineup:
Howard; Hosannah, Hayden, Tozer, Tunnicliffe; McFadzean, Jones, Young, Lee; Mullin, Palmer

Aldershot Town possible starting lineup:
Hall; Davies, Harfield, Jordan, Phillips, Cordner; Vincent, Glover, Willard, Amaluzor; Effiong

We say: Wrexham 3-0 Aldershot Town

Wrexham are looking for one thing only this season, and that is promotion, which is why a match like this will be seen as must win.

The attacking qualities of the Welsh club should prove to be far too much for Aldershot Town here, and Parkinson's men will secure a comfortable three points.
