Newcastle Falcons thrash Calvisano in Challenge Cup

Newcastle Falcons move to the top of their Challenge Cup pool with a 37-15 win over Calvisano.

After a quiet opening 20 minutes, Zach Kibirige and Noah Cato added tries for the home side in the space of two minutes, before Michele Visentin found a gap to stroll over for the visitors.

A string of errors in the scrum early in the second half saw the Falcons awarded a penalty try, before Chris York forced his way over, leaving the hosts comfortably ahead.

Braam Steyn added a consolation for the visitors, while Cato was able to complete his brace late on, scoring the final points of the encounter.

The result leaves Newcastle top in pool three, while Calvisano remain bottom without a win this season.
