Feyenoord beat Go Ahead Eagles 3-0 to clinch their first Eredivisie title since 2016-17.

Feyenoord have won their first Eredivisie title since 2016-17 courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Go Ahead Eagles this afternoon.

Arne Slot's side needed to win to clinch the title with two games remaining, and they made no mistake with a routine triumph over their 11th-placed visitors at De Kuip.

Oussama Idrissi and Santiago Gimenez put the hosts in command with two quickfire goals in the first half, before Igor Paixao wrapped up the result with a third in the second half.

The result lifts Feyenoord 11 points clear of their nearest challengers PSV Eindhoven, securing their place as champions of Netherlands for only the second time in the 20th century, and the 16th time overall.

It is also only the second time that Feyenoord have ever won the title with two or more games remaining, marking Slot's 100th game in charge of the club in perfect fashion.

The opening goal came after only 15 minutes when Idrissi exchanged a quick one-two with Mats Wieffer on his way in from the left flank, before squeezing his finish past the keeper from a tight angle.

One became two for Feyenoord just three minutes later as Gimenez continued his remarkable run of form by scoring in an eighth successive Eredivisie match.

The title was then rubber-stamped in style nine minutes into the second half when Igor Paixao received the ball outside the area and curled an inch-perfect finish into the far corner.

The victory is Feyenoord's 12th league win in a row and extends their unbeaten run to 25 games, stretching back to September.
