Team News: Harry Redknapp starts Marc Roberts, Cheikh N'Doye

Harry Redknapp hands starts to Marc Roberts and Cheikh N'Doye for Birmingham City's trip to Ipswich Town.

Harry Redknapp has handed starts to new signings Marc Roberts and Cheikh N'Doye for Birmingham City's season-opening trip to Ipswich Town this afternoon.

In all there are five changes from the side that pulled off a final-day escape to remain in the Championship at the end of last season, with Clayton Donaldson coming in alongside Che Adams up front in a 4-4-2 formation.

N'Doye, who arrived over the summer on a free from Angers, slots into the midfield alongside David Davis, Jacques Maghoma and Craig Gardner, who made his loan move from West Bromwich Albion permanent at the end of last season.

Redknapp is forced to make do without the services of injured Lukas Jutkiewicz and skipper Paul Robinson, who is suspended.

Former Brighton & Hove Albion keeper David Stockdale makes his debut between the sticks, behind a back four that sees Roberts come in alongside Emilio Nsue, Jonathan Grounds and Michael Morrison.

For Ipswich, manager Mick McCarthy starts summer signing Joe Garner in a lone striker role up front as he looks to get the season off to a positive note following their 6-1 thrashing in a friendly at League One Charlton Athletic last weekend.

Freddie Sears, academy graduate Andre Dozzell and Grant Ward provide attacking support, while Jonas Knudsen and Cole Skuse operate in a holding role.

Jordan Spence, Tommy Smith and Luke Chambers are joined in the back four by young right-back Dominic Iorfa, on loan from McCarthy's former club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Tractor Boys are without Teddy Bishop (groin), Luke Hyam (ankle) and Tom Adeyemi (illness) but there is a place on the bench for young Manchester City loanee Bersant Celina.

Ipswich Town: Bialkowski; Iorfa, Spence, Chambers, Smith; Knudsen, Skuse; Dozzell, Ward, Sears; Garner
Subs: Gerken, Kenlock, Webster, Downes, Nydam, Celina, McGoldrick

Birmingham City: Stockdale; Nsue, Grounds, Morrison, Roberts; Davis, Gardner, Ndoye, Maghoma; Donaldson, Adams
Subs: Kuszczak, Shotton, Kieftenbeld, Keita, Brock-Madsen, Harding, Gleeson
