Mansfield Town rescue late point

A late Ollie Palmer strike completes a two-goal turnaround for Mansfield Town against Wycombe Wanderers at Field Mill.

Mansfield Town came from two goals down to grab a vital point at home to Wycombe Wanderers courtesy of a late Ollie Palmer goal.

Stuart Lewis broke the deadlock after just nine minutes, with his 30-yard effort beating Alan Marriott to give the visitors the breakthrough.

Moments later Mansfield looked to have drawn level when Matt Rhead's volley from close range was heading towards goal, but Matt Ingram pulled off a fine save to retain his side's advantage.

Ingram was called into action once more on the half-hour mark, tipping over Ross Dyer's strike at full stretch.

The Chairboys began the second half in perfect style, doubling their lead thanks to Josh Scowen's volleyed goal following Nick Arnold's cross from the right.

The home side did grab a lifeline shortly after, however, courtesy of Lee Stevenson, who slotted the ball home from a few yards out after Anthony Howell's shot had found its way to the midfielder.

Wycombe came close to extending their advantage on the hour mark, but Matt McClure's chipped effort from close range ended up going over the bar following a Nick Arnold free kick.

Gareth Ainsworth's men looked likely to leave Field Mill with a vital victory, athough after Ingram had pulled off another big save, the ball came back down off the bar for Ollie Palmer to tap home and level the game.

Mansfield are now five points clear of the relegation zone, while Wycombe have a three-point gap between themselves and the bottom three.
