Roda JC hold on for point at PSV Eindhoven

Roda JC manage to keep PSV Eindhoven at bay and earn a 1-1 draw at the Philips Stadion.

Roda JC hold off a late PSV Eindhoven fightback to draw 1-1 with the Dutch champions at the Philips Stadion.

In an uneventful first half, the best chance fell to Luuk de Jong, who tried his luck from just outside the box but the Dutchman's effort was just wide of the goal.

Roda went ahead early in the second half as Tomi Juric poked home just in front of the goalkeeper after a low cross from Edwin Gyasi, who looked offside in the build-up to the goal.

PSV looked to reply quickly and Hector Moreno had a chance with a header from a corner, but the Mexican put it wide of the goal.

Jurgen Locadia had another opportunity for PSV as he ran at the Roda defence, but he dragged his shot well wide.

The hosts pulled level with 15 minutes remaining as Davy Propper flicked on an Andres Guardado free kick and the header gave Benjamin van Leer no chance.

The reigning Eredivisie champions had three chances in added time from consecutive corners but Roda managed to keep them at bay and claim a vital point.

The point means PSV are now three points off Eredivisie table-toppers Ajax, who have a game in hand, while Roda move six points off the relegation places in 14th.
