Leicester Tigers 42-15 Newcastle Falcons

Leicester Tigers defeat Newcastle Falcons with a score of 42-15.

Leicester Tigers have beaten Newcastle Falcons 42-15 to secure their second win in a row at Welford Road this afternoon.

Tigers fly-half George Ford fired the home side ahead by three in the opening minutes, before increasing their total by converting Julian Salvi's try.

Opposite number Jimmy Gopperth struck back in minutes to reduce the deficit, but only momentarily.

Leicester's Billy Twelvetrees's try added yet another five points to their tally to put them over 10 points ahead.

Ford kicked his second three of the afternoon with half an hour gone, before wing Horacio Agulla crossed over to establish a 20-point lead at the break.

Thomas Waldrom carried Leicester's momentum into the second half with a score after two minutes to take his team's total to 28 points.

Falcons substitute Jonny Golding scored the road team's first try of the game after ten minutes of second-half action, but barely put a dent in Leicester's lead.

With just over 10 minutes to go, Waldrem put another five points on the board for the hosts, allowing Ford to add his second conversion, before adding a third after Niall Morris's late score.

Substitute Richard Mayhew scored the away side's second try of the game, allowing Gopperth to reduce the deficit to 27 points with no time left.
