Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho - currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund - is reportedly not expecting to secure a permanent stay at the Westfalenstadion.

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho reportedly does not expect to complete a permanent transfer to Borussia Dortmund.

Earlier this campaign, Sancho was banished from the United first-team squad for publicly responding to criticism over his training level by head coach Erik ten Hag.

As it stands, there has been no sign of that issue being resolved, resulting in a temporary switch to former club Dortmund during the January transfer window.

Since his return to Westfalenstadion, the England international has made three starts and two substitute outings in the Bundesliga, contributing one assist.

Having dropped out of the title race, Dortmund's priority is trying to secure Champions League football for next season, while they are currently preparing to face PSV Eindhoven in the last 16 of this year's competition.

For a permanent deal for Sancho to be achievable, Dortmund would need to remain in European football's premier competition for next season as a bare minimum.

Nevertheless, according to BILD, Sancho is not expecting to secure a long-term stay at Dortmund.

Furthermore, it is added that a second loan spell at Dortmund is regarded as "slim", subsequently leaving Sancho's career at somewhat of a crossroads if that scenario plays out.

Having played 79 minutes of the 1-1 draw at Wolfsburg at the weekend, the likelihood is that Sancho will remain in the starting lineup for the game at PSV on Tuesday evening.

That said, United will want to recoup as close to the £73m that they shelled out in 2021 as possible, and Dortmund may not have any intention of meeting those demands.

As well as having a mixed impact in his 265 minutes back in German football, Sancho has contributed just 12 goals and six assists from 82 outings for United in all competitions.

Sancho holds a contract at Old Trafford until 2026 and it was recently claimed that United intend to ask for at least £40m in the summer.

A club from Saudi Arabia is realistically most likely to meet that asking price in due course, yet it is unclear whether Sancho will prefer to move to the Middle East or remain in Europe at this stage of his career.
