Valencia scrape past Gimnastic

Valencia beat Gimnastic 1-0 on aggregate to reach the Copa del Rey last 16.

Valencia are into the last 16 of the Copa del Rey after beating minnows Gimnastic 1-0 in their home leg on Thursday night.

The opening leg in Tarragona ended 0-0 and the La Liga side were able to edge out Nastic courtesy of a goal late in the first half.

Valencia were not playing at their best and indeed there were chances at both ends, but it was the hosts who opened the scoring through Paco Alcacer's finish.

It continued to be a tight game, but Gimnastic could not create the big chance they required to equalise and succumbed to a narrow defeat that saw Valencia reach the round of 16.
