Newcastle Falcons too strong for Calvisano

Newcastle Falcons thrash Calvisano 25-10 to sit just one point behind pool leaders Brive in the Challenge Cup.

Newcastle Falcons have thrashed Rugby Calvisano 25-10 in the Challenge Cup this afternoon.

The visitors dominated possession in the first half, setting up Zach Kibirige and Rory Clegg for tries in the opening 40 minutes, leaving the Falcons with a 17-point lead at the break.

Kibirige continued his recent strong form by adding a second, putting Newcastle in a strong position to clinch a bonus point.

The Italian side started to see more of the ball and managed to get themselves back into contention with a Kele Hehea try, but they were on the back foot again just four minutes later when Lorenzo Romano was sent to the sin bin.

Despite their impressive performance, Newcastle could not find the fourth try to give themselves the bonus point, but the result keeps them in contention in pool three.
