Brighton & Hove Albion edge past Fulham

A penalty from Adrian Colunga and a late strike from Solly March give Brighton & Hove Albion a 2-0 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Brighton & Hove Albion have ended their seven game winless run in the Championship by beating Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage this evening.

Adrian Colunga had the first big opening for the visitors when he met Elliott Bennett's cross at the back post, before seeing his volley saved by Marcus Bettinelli.

Fulham came close soon after as Ross McCormack powered in a drive that deflected inches wide of the post.

Bettinelli was proving to be the busier of the two keepers and he was forced into action again to tip over a shot from Bennett.

With two minutes of the first half remaining Danny Holla drilled an effort just wide of the target, as both teams headed into the break on level terms.

Brighton continued to create the better chances following the break and after Bennett had seen his effort saved, Colunga fired against the post.

On the hour mark the visitors finally broke the deadlock as Colunga scored from the penalty spot after Konstantinos Stafylidis had brought down Bennett.

The hosts responded to that setback by bringing on Cauley Woodrow and the striker soon fired a strike over the bar.

Sean Kavanagh was the next to threaten for the Cottagers, but his shot was tipped over by David Stockdale.

Stockdale was called upon to make another important save as the game entered the final 10 minutes, when he stopped Hugo Rodallega's low drive.

In the 87th minute Solly March raced onto Joao Teixeira's pass and calmly slotted home to seal the points for Brighton and lift them out of the relegation zone.
