Half-Time Report: Juventus in cruise control against Hellas Verona

Juventus are cruising to a 3-0 win against Hellas Verona in Thursday evening's Coppa Italia clash at the Juventus Stadium.

Juventus are cruising to a 3-0 win against Hellas Verona in this evening's Coppa Italia clash at the Juventus Stadium.

The first chance fell to the visitors when Nene sent a searching cutback towards Emil Hallfredsson, who sent his shot wide of the near post.

However, the hosts opened the scoring after just six minutes when Sebastian Giovinco curled a free kick over the wall and past goalkeeper Rafael.

Juve piled forward in a bid to double their lead, but had to be alert at the other end when Panagiotis Tachtsidis whipped a cross towards Hallfredsson, whose header was forced out by Simone Padoin for a corner.

Nevertheless, the Bianconeri found themselves on the scoresheet again in the 21st minute when Roberto Pereyra tipped the ball beyond Guillermo Rodriguez before tucking a shot into the bottom left corner.

Both sides continued to press forward as the game went on, Simone Pepe forcing a save out of Rafael and Marco Storari keeping out a Nicolas Lopez shot at the near post.

On the stroke of half time, Stephan Lichtsteiner set up Giovinco, who comfortably turned the ball into the net to take an emphatic lead into the dressing room at the break.
